AKG decided to change the packaging of the set, and instead of sending it back to the manufacturer, they sent them to Massdrop to sell them at a very discounted price. In the comments there was debate that these could be the first gen with defects, it was later confirmed by a reputable headfiyer and Will from Massdrop themselves, that the serial shows these are the second gen pair which has corrected all the physical defects the first gen had.
