Hey Everyone,
Just curious as to whether or not anyone else here has become as disillusioned as I have about Group "deals". Over the past year or so I've spent over $1000 on all of them combined (Dealfind, WagJag, etc.) and lately, all I get are shoddy merchandise and/or lousy service. To whit:
Bought the 2 electronic sensor soap-dispensers. Turned out to be such lousy quality as to be useless. Very slow in detecting movement, if at all. Basically have to wave my hand in front of them over and over just to get a tiny blob of soap. Easier to just use a squeeze bottle.
Bought carpet cleaning deal. Called company to arrange appointment and was told they dont have anyone in our area for 2 weeks, and even then, only on a specific weekday. Said ok, made appointment and wife took half-day off work to be there. Got a call the afternoon before saying two people had called in sick (the day before??) and so they had to reschedule the appointment. Called back and after much juggling, rescheduled for Monday. Left work early monday to be there for the appointment and this time they didn't show at all! No phone call, no show no nothing. Ironically that very day I got a dealfind notice of the same company offering the same deal (only this time for half the square footage!). E-mailed Dealfind demanding refund and so far had no response, even after 2 e-mails and 4 days.
Bought Christmas lights. Advertised as outdoor multi-coloured with changeable colours using a switch. What arrived was possibly the cheapest most non-outdoor-worthy light set I've ever seen. What looked to be #80 gauge wire and absolutely not a waterproof switch. On top of all that, they were all blue. E-mailed company, they responded by sending me a new set...all white!
Bought 10lbs worth of Dutch "premium back ribs". Freezer burned and stale tasting, not even completely sealed in plastic, so the ends of each rack were completely exposed.
I could go on, but it just seems to me that the "deals" are now nothing but a pipeline for cheap Chinese-made stuff I'd walk by at the dollar store, and the service offers are from companies that are selling in numbers far beyond their capacity to deliver.
At least with E-Bay I can leave feedback!!
Thoughts?
John
