Safeway e-Auction site
I think these have been going on since Mar 22 but nobody has posted yet so better late than never.
Every day the Safeway e-Auction site puts up a new "group buy". It's one product, a set number of units and once they're gone, they're gone.
Deals are released daily at 10 AM Pacific / 11 AM Mountain / Noon Central / 1 PM Eastern / 2 PM Atlantic
Today's group buy was a Margaritaville Tahiti Frozen Concoction Maker. Maybe not the typical RFDer's cup of tea but it gives you an idea of the magnitude of the deals. This is a $500 item that went for a mere 1,250 AM (say $125 worth).
Not sure how many units were available today but they sold out in less than a half hour.
What about Group Buy? How does that work?
(a) There's ONE deal everyday: : Each day, the website will feature an item for Group Buy. The item will have a set price (in AIR MILES® reward miles) and can only be activated when a predetermined number of participants agree to buy the item with their AIR MILES® reward miles at the advertised price.
(b) Make sure you have your Safeway e-Auction Access Code: Once you have selected to buy the Group Buy item you will be asked to provide a Safeway e-Auction Access Code (available at participating Canada Safeway locations while supplies last).
(c) A pre-determined number of units of the Group Buy item is available. Act fast to activate and spread the word to family and friends: If the number of people that activate the deal matches the quantity of the item available everyone that activated the deal gets the item! It's important to understand that the same moment that the deal is activated it also closes and no more offers are accepted. That means if we have only 150 Blu-ray players available in a Group Buy, no more than 150 Blu-ray players can be bought.
In the event that an insufficient number of participants agree to buy a Group Buy item at the advertised price within 24 hours of the offer appearing on the website, the offer shall be withdrawn and no items shall be attributed.
You are only entitled to participate and buy one item per daily Group Buy offer!
Important:
The amount of AIR MILES® reward miles bid by the winning participant will then be deducted from the participant's AIR MILES® Dream Account.
FAQ
Sounds like the miles have to be in your "Dream" balance and not "Cash". You need e-Auction codes from Safeway to participate (need to make a purchase to get one).
